Multi-Application Support: Ntiva’s SaaS backup with Veeam supports Office 365 applications, including Exchange Online, SharePoint Online, and OneDrive for Business.

Automated Backup: The service provides automated and regular backups of your Office 365 data, ensuring comprehensive protection. Default backup schedule is set to backup Microsoft Office 365 every eight (8) hours for three (3) backups a day.

Quick Data Recovery: In the event of data loss, accidental deletion, or cyberattacks, Veeam SaaS Backup allows for rapid data recovery to minimize downtime and productivity loss.

Retention Policies: Customize data retention policies to meet compliance requirements and business needs, ensuring that historical data is preserved.

Security and Compliance: Data is encrypted both in transit and at rest, and the service complies with industry-specific regulations and standards. All data is stored in configured US based Microsoft Datacenter FedRAMP High Facility

Granular Restore: Restore only what you need, when you need it. Ntiva’s SaaS backup with Veeam allows Ntiva to recover specific files, emails, or folders, giving you complete control over your data.

Mail

  • Primary Mailboxes
  • Shared mailboxes (but not public folders).
  • Archive mailboxes
  • Resource mailboxes

 

 

OneDrive

  • All documents in an individual's OneDrive.

 

SharePoint

  • Collaboration sites
  • Communications sites
  • Personal Sites

 

Teams

  • Public channels, including content, calendar meetings, and conversation messages.

 

Deliverables

  • Establishment of a backup repository within an Azure FedRAMP High Facility.
  • Installation of Veeam 365 software on client server on-prem or in Microsoft Azure
  • Integration of the clients Microsoft 365 Tenant with the Veeam Backup Server.
  • Configuration of backups in accordance with client policies or the default policy provided by Ntiva.
    • Ntiva Standard Policy
      • Retention of Intra-Daily backups for 30 days.
      • Retention of Daily backups for 3 years.
    • Removal of the previous backup solution.
    • Configuration of alerts for the Veeam 365 Backup service.

 

Task 1 – Project Management and Deployment

  • Build Veeam backup server if no client server is defined for use.
  • Install Veeam 365 Components
  • Configure Azure Repository
  • Create Modern Authentication App
  • Enable Application Impersonation Role
  • Setup Veeam Console
  • Setup Veeam Repository
  • Add 365 Organization
  • Create Backup Job
  • Create backup alerting to standards

Task 2 – Normal Operations

This phase includes routine day-to-day operations of Ntiva’s SaaS backup with Veeam:

  • Break fix support
    • Clients can all in for support regarding any break/fix issues on Ntiva’s Email Security Services
  • Password resets for users with access issues to Portal
  • Allow/block domain names or individual email address.
  • Client Portal Administrator additions or removals
    • Adding or removing Portal Administrators will be performed via a support ticket

Service Assumptions

  • Labor associated with normal operations will be billed to client’s service agreement.
  • Ntiva SaaS Backup with Veeam provides data protection and recovery capabilities but does not guarantee the prevention of all data disasters.
  • Ntiva has administrative access to Clients SaaS solutions (Microsoft 365)
  • Ntiva does not need to supply the Microsoft Azure Subscription and client can purchase directly from Microsoft.
  • Ntiva must have Contributor or owner access to Azure Subscription to configure Microsoft Azure Storage components.
  • Service requires a Client server for Veeam 365 backup to function
    • Server will need Premium Managed Server for support and monitoring functionality
    • Selected Server can be combined with Veeam Backup and Replication Services
  • Veeam Backup for Microsoft 365 Server requirements
    • Hardware:
      • CPU: Any modern multi-core x64 processor, 4 cores minimum. 8 Cores recommended
      • Memory: 8 GB RAM minimum, 16 GB RAM recommend
      • Disk Space: 1 GB for product installation, additional free space for configuration and local cache databases (varies based on usage), and space for product logs.
    • Operating System (64-bit):
      • Microsoft Windows Server 2022
      • Microsoft Windows Server 2019
      • Microsoft Windows Server 2016

 

Service Limitation

Here is a list of limitations for Ntiva’s SaaS backup with Veeam for Office 365. These limitations highlight specific scenarios and data types that may not be fully backed up or supported by Ntiva’s SaaS backup with Veeam Protection for Office 365.

 

  • Microsoft SharePoint / Teams - Backup Limitations & Unsupported Scenarios:
    • SharePoint site collection recycle bin is not supported for backup.
    • External SharePoint lists are not supported for backup.
    • Backup of specific types of channel tabs in Teams.
    • SharePoint objects require a valid Microsoft 365 license with SharePoint plan enabled for backup.
    • Version history backup is not supported for .aspx web pages.
    • Backup of SharePoint App Store applications with JavaScript redirects is not supported.
    • Comments on SharePoint list items are not supported for backup.
    • Backup of SharePoint items with identical "owshiddenversion" values only keeps the latest version.
    • Backup of a SharePoint site created within the last 24 hours before the backup job run may have errors.
    • Certain objects like private and shared channels, one-on-one and group chats, and more are not backed up as part of Microsoft Teams data backup.
    • Microsoft Teams applications from AppSource Marketplace and custom applications are not supported for backup.

 

  • Microsoft Exchange - Backup Limitations & Unsupported Scenarios:
    • Certain objects are not backed up for Microsoft 365 organizations with enabled security defaults, including Discovery Search Mailboxes, Public Folder Mailboxes, and Dynamic Distribution Groups.
    • Backup of public
    • User mailboxes require a valid Microsoft 365 license for backup.

 

  • General - Backup Limitations & Unsupported Scenarios
    • Backup of Project Web Apps is not supported.
    • OneNote notebooks larger than 2 GB may not be backed up.
    • OneDrive for Business objects require a valid Microsoft 365 license with SharePoint plan enabled for backup.
  • Restore Limitations & Unsupported Scenarios
  • Some restore options of OneNote notebooks may not work, and export procedures are recommended.
  • Items of different types in the restore list must be restored separately.
  • Guest users cannot be used as restore operators.
  • Restore sessions may continue running for an hour after a user refreshes their browser.
  • Sorting items in the restore list by Restore Status is not supported.
  • Searching by part of a word is not supported.
  • Restore Limitations & Unsupported Scenarios (Microsoft Teams)
  • Restoring OneNote tabs with non-Latin or special characters in their names may fail.
  • Microsoft Teams messages cannot be restored directly back to Teams.
  • Microsoft Teams data is not supported for explore or restore using the Self-Service Restore Portal.
  • Restoration of Microsoft Teams data is only supported to the original organization.
  • Restoring OneNote notebooks for organizations with enabled security defaults using multi-factor authentication is not supported.
  • Restoring a channel tab may not preserve the link to a file, and posts are exported to HTML files.

 

  • Restore Limitations & Unsupported Scenarios (Microsoft SharePoint):
  • SharePoint Sites can only be restored to the existing site collection.
  • Some lists (including hidden lists) are not supported for restore.
  • Document libraries and lists can only be restored back to the source site.
  • Export of empty SharePoint folders is not supported.
  • Several limitations related to SharePoint web part templates, survey lists, and more.
  • Personal SharePoint Online site restores have limitations based on Multi-Geo and Custom Scripts settings.
  • SharePoint item versions may not be preserved when restoring.
  • Restoring shortcuts to shared folders is not supported for OneDrive for Business.
